Let’s walk through the evolution of GE's turbine control modules—these modules have shifted from specialized turbine management to integrated plant-wide operations, adapting to diverse industrial needs with tailored capabilities.
Starting with turbine-specific systems (1986–1995): The DEH III system (1986–1995) was built specifically for steam turbine control, laying GE’s foundational expertise in turbine operation management.
Next came unit and plant-level distributed control (1995–2006): First up was the XDPS 400 (1995–2001), which handled distributed control for individual power generation units. Then the XDPS-400+ (2001–2006) scaled up to plant-level control, letting operators oversee entire facilities from a centralized point.
For the Mark series—GE’s long standing turbine and BOP control line (1966–present):
The Mark I through V (1966–1997) covered both gas and steam turbine control, serving as a core solution for over 30 years.
The Mark VI (1997–2003) expanded beyond turbines to include Balance of Plant (BOP) control, starting with the Baglan Bay 9H project.
After the year of 2004, the Mark Vle series rolled out, supporting both unit and plant-level control to fit facilities worldwide.
In recent years (2007 onward), GE shifted to broader, integrated platforms: The XDPS-400e/OC 4000 (post-2007) grew its reach in both domestic and international markets, tailored to regional industry requirements. Then the OC 6000e (post-2008) launched as an integrated control platform, unifying diverse control functions into one cohesive system.
This timeline shows how GE has kept innovating in industrial control—moving from managing single components to integrating entire plant operations, all to keep up with changing industry demands.
